Alchemy

Alchemy

What roaring gales
yanked us by the roots,
what magnetic fields
pushed us along
latitudinal lines,
what witchcraft
stirred up
 this
strange alchemy
 of you and me—
a curious confluence
sloshing together
like borscht and bourbon.
